Dark and De Licious 29er 1 x fun

Exquisite and evil, De Luca’s Dark and De Licious 29er, 1 x fun is all you need when the single track is calling.  Classic Lucid geometry — 69 degrees at the head, 72 degree seat tube, 450 millimeter chain stays — for lung-busting climbs and rip-roaring, shred-nasty downhills.   Crafted out of American-made True Temper tubing for the compliant ride that only steel can provide.  Paragon Machine Works horizontal dropouts, bottle opener, and a hanger for a derailleur, set this hot whip up for ultimate convertibility and lubrication.  Internally routed cables for that sweet and spicy flavor.  The unbelievable powder coat finish, Tropic Black, laid down by Steel Coatings will make you double take.  Hand-carved spade gussets are the maraschino cherries on top of this devastating cocktail of style and performance.

Tangerine 29er Single Speed

Matty C’s Tangerine 29er Single Speed is the first mountain bike I built in Park City. After many years of furious abuse, hard riding, and wet put-aways, Matt thought this cream-puff deserved a new coat of powder.  Let’s check the past and see where we came from. Slack, low, and stubby.  Slacker steer tube, with a low stand over height, and short chain stays. I still like all that stuff, it’s shred ready i.e. more stable at speeds and quicker around turns.

The True Temper, Ox Platinum and Verus HT tubes continue to give this thoroughbred, trail compliance, wind up power, and Matt smiles.  Collars and gussets for strength, Paragon sliding drop for versatility and sex appeal. The hand cut head badge is still an option if silver isn’t your thing.

JP’s Lucky Rabbit 29er single speed

Poised for many summers of gut punching climbs and wahoo downhills, JP’s Lucky Rabbit 29er places him in a powerful, momentum-keeping position. Built with the nuevo classic Lucid 29er dimensions, this dirt slinger provides excellent control and flow on high-speed descents—yet, can confidently climb and nail the choice lines around dicey  switchbacks.

  • Simple BS-free sliding drops allow adequate chain tension for 32×18, 19, and 20t ratios
  • Rear derailleur hanger allows the option to run a 10×1 or 9×1 drivetrain
  • Top and bottom tube gussets provide extra strength for aggressive riding
  • Chainstays provide plenty of  clearance for mud covered fatty-fats

Black Velvet 29er single speed

K H’s murdered out  SS 29er is so ready to attack it vibrates. Built around my favorite high-rollin’ geometry—69.5° Steerer tube and 72° seat tube—this monster will carve up tasty single track.

  • As with all Lucid Cycles, a custom selection of American-made True Temper steel provides a unique blend of performance and compliance
  • Meaty, mud-covered tires rotate freely thanks to shapely, clearance-boosting stays and a wide 73mm bottom bracket
  • The business end of this bad boy sees one of the sexier ways to tension a chain: PMW stainless steel sliding dropouts
  • Gussets and collars in all the right places ensure big-mountain reliability—what we call: Wasatch Strength
  • Durable finish by Steel Coating

BMX Dreams 29er single speed

I raced BMX in the early eighties, and boy does this bike remind me of my first Hutch and it’s single-speed simplicity.

Built around a 73mm bottom bracket with a 69.5° head-tube angle, a 72° seat-tube angle, and 450mm chainstays, this surefooted playmate crests ultra-techy climbs with ease—yet shames squishy, soulless all-mountain rigs when pointed downhill. With a cockpit fully adorned with  choice bits from Chris King and Thompson, the BMX dream weighs in at 23.75lb complete. Not bad for AMERICAN steel and a welcome lack of TAIWANESE aluminum.

The chrome, by J & J Powder Coating is so sweet it’s hard to stop staring

Backyard Good Times

Backyard Good Times is a classic Park City freeride mountain bike video. Almost all of the built structures in this video have either fallen into disrepair or have been torn downed by the Deer Valley ski resort. We will rebuild, bigger, better, stronger, faster, sicker. Sometimes a custom hand built 29er isn’t the best tool for testing the physical limits of a bicycle.
